How To Clean It
CLEANING & MAINTAINING YOUR DECK ARMOUR
Why it matters!
The way you clean your EVA flooring plays a major role in how long it lasts and how good it continues to look. Incorrect products or harsh methods can cause unnecessary wear or damage.
We recommend following the process below and using our EVA Cleaner for safe and effective results.
If you take care of your flooring, it will continue to perform season after season.
- Step 1 - General Cleaning
For regular maintenance:
Rinse the deck with low-pressure water.
Use warm, soapy water with a medium-bristle deck brush.
Scrub in a forward-and-back motion.
Thoroughly rinse away all soap residue.
- Step 2 – Stubborn Marks or Stains
If marks remain after Step 1 (for example sunscreen, food residue, or dried grime):
While the deck is still wet, apply a small amount of spray-on degreaser to the affected area.
Using your fingers, gently work the product in a circular motion until the stain begins to lift.
Continue to Step 3.
- Step 3– Final Rinse
Brush the area again and rinse thoroughly with water.
Repeat if required.
Important: Degreaser should only be used for spot cleaning. Do not use it as a general cleaning solution.
Fishing Mess? No Problem.
Deck Armour is designed for real boating conditions. Fish blood, bait residue, and even squid ink can be removed easily by following the cleaning steps above.
Care Instructions
Important Care Instructions
Look After Your Investment
Follow the Cleaning and Care Instructions carefully in order not to damage your flooring and void the manufacturers warranty.
- DO NOT USE
Any type of solvent
Hull cleaners
Acetone
Undiluted bleach
Fuel (petrol, diesel, or oil)
Knives or sharp tools directly on the surface
Cigarettes, ash, or hot objects on the flooring
- NO Pressure Washers
High-pressure water can force moisture into seams and edges, potentially weakening adhesion and lifting the flooring. Always use low-pressure water and the recommended cleaning method.
- Sun Exposure & UV Care
Although EVA flooring is UV-stable and engineered to withstand temperatures up to 70°C, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause gradual fading over time.
For best results, we strongly recommend:
Using a boat cover when your vessel is not in use
Storing your boat under cover where possible
Please note: Minor colour fading due to unprotected sun exposure is not covered under warranty.
- Light Amplification
Light amplification occurs when sunlight is reflected and intensified by surfaces inside your boat. This can create extreme localized heat that exceeds the temperature rating of EVA flooring.
When this happens, flooring may:
Warp or distort
Release from the surface
Discolour or darken
This can occur in under 30 minutes in the right conditions.
High-risk areas include:
Beneath windscreens and glass panels
Near reflective or glossy fibreglass surfaces
Close to stainless steel fittings
Any concave or high-gloss surfaces that focus sunlight
If your boat is moored outdoors or in high-temperature regions, take additional care to prevent light amplification.
Above: This is an example of sunlight magnified by the concave fibreglass surface into a focal point onto the floor.
- Maximise It's Life
Your EVA decking will deliver the best performance and longevity when protected from harsh elements. Regular cleaning, proper storage, and sun protection will ensure it continues to look great and function at its best.
